About Us

Mission Statement: Fort Worth Youth Soccer Association’s mission is to: encourage children to be a part of the largest youth sport in the world; provide youth with organized competition in a safe environment; bring youth closer together through common interest in sportsmanship and competition; instill the values of education; and emphasize the importance of balancing scholastic and athletic endeavors.

Fort Worth Youth Soccer Association is a non-profit youth sports organization governed by an elected and volunteer Board of Directors, under the auspices of North Texas State Soccer, U.S. Youth Soccer, and U.S. Soccer Federation. FWYSA was formed in the 1980s as various independent soccer groups united to form a larger and more cohesive federation of soccer organizations in southwestern Tarrant County.

Our philosophy in youth recreational soccer is to stress enjoyment of the game, while developing skills and a life-long love for soccer. Today, FWYSA registers over 200 recreational and select teams with upwards of 2,500 players each season. Programs and amenities provided by FWYSA include:

  • The equivalent of almost 10 full-size soccer fields maintained by Ft. Worth Youth Soccer (with no city help) exclusively for the use of our players and teams;
  • Supplemental medical insurance covering the soccer activities of every youth player;
  • Referees trained through U.S. Youth Soccer and FIFA (the international soccer body governing the World Cup) certified programs.  A Basic Referee (any center referee) has undergone at least an initial 19 hour training session and passed a rigorous test;
  • Free coaching clinics (of four hours—with free coaching manuals) for every U6 and U8 coach;
  • A season of 8 to 10 games;
  • A web-site designed exclusively to inform our coaches, parents, and players;
  • An office dedicated solely to administering our soccer program;
  • Through our affiliation with North Texas State Soccer, opportunities for older players to participate in regional tournaments, select soccer, Olympic Development Programs, the Tournament of Champions, among others;
  • Coach Appreciation Dinner and Game; Select Soccer Informational Program; Fall Classic and Cowtown Classic Tournaments on our fields; referee and coach clinics (summer and winter); and other special programs.
