The Premiere Academy League (PAL) is an organized league of Academy teams from across the metroplex. PAL schedules league play for teams that choose to play in this League. Click here for answers to Frequently Asked Questions about PAL. Their web site is www.ccsai.org.
Ft. Worth Youth Soccer does not organize the various Academy teams. These teams are formed independent of Ft. Worth Youth Soccer. Some academy teams are simply the existing recreational team wit a parent-coach, when that team wants the additional experience of Academy play. Some are organized by single coaches and could include players from several recreational teams. And many are organized by local select soccer clubs with hired and paid coaches.
Per North Texas Soccer instructions, we will sign an Academy Tournament Roster only when:
Select Clubs
There are several select soccer clubs (with number of teams ranging from one to over twenty) that predominantly (or exclusively) register with Ft. Worth Youth Soccer and practice in the Ft. Worth area. These (with any available links, listed alphabetically) are:
There are literally dozens and dozens of other select soccer clubs in the greater Metroplex area. North Texas Soccer maintains a listing of links to most (if not all) soccer clubs on their web site.
Why do we have 5 non-Saturday (weekdays or Sundays) games, only one game in one month, and seven (or more) games in another month?
A variety of factors could produce an inordinate number of non-Saturday games, often concentrated in a particular month. Among them are:
Odd numbers of teams in a division produce “automatic byes” as one team is not playing each weekend. For example, a 5 team division playing ten games in a season will require a schedule of thirteen weekends.
We try to reserve the last two weekends of the season for rain-outs, which reduces the number of Saturdays for the regular season games.
We allow each team one bye request. Spring/Fall break weekends are popular requests for byes. Even if you did not request a bye, your opposing team may have done so—which creates a bye for your team also.
In the U9s and U10s, we reserve those fields for the Premier Academy League on Sunday. Thus, no byes are rescheduled for Sundays. They are all rescheduled for weekdays during Day Light Savings time.
In the U11s and up, we include non-FWYSA associations in those divisions, and often we must start those seasons later.
To summarize with a very plausible scenario: A team could have three byes due to an odd number of teams in a division—and two additional byes due to teams requesting their own byes. These five byes might be rescheduled on Sundays (predominantly for U11s and up) or on weekdays during Daylight Savings Time.
